About Us
Game World is a creative team specializing in PowerPoint game development, responsible for projects like Rafaboy Adventures, Cube Is Sphere, and Creatures Of Bells. Our goal is to show that PowerPoint can go far beyond presentations, serving as a platform to create interactive experiences, original stories, and unique game mechanics.
Since 2020, we have been developing our own projects, with original characters, universes, and ideas, always valuing creativity and innovation within the possibilities offered by the tool.
PowerPoint Games
PowerPoint games have existed for much longer than Game World itself. This style of development began to gain prominence between 2007 and 2008, when creators used only animations, hyperlinks, and transitions to build interactive experiences.
With the popularization of VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) in the early 2010s, it became possible to add programming to projects. This allowed the creation of more advanced systems, including movement, dynamic menus, levels, custom mechanics, and various other features.
One of the most influential teams in the community was PPTGames, founded in Portugal in 2016. Their projects helped inspire creators around the world and contributed to the growth of the PowerPoint games community.
In the following years, various developers began creating increasingly ambitious projects. It was in this scenario that Game World emerged, in February 2020, with the goal of producing original games and further expanding the possibilities of this alternative form of development.
Why use PowerPoint to create games?
This is one of the questions we receive the most.
PowerPoint was indeed not created for game development. However, it is precisely this challenge that makes the process so interesting for our team.
Our goal has never been to compete with professional engines or replace specialized tools. Game World's proposition is to demonstrate that creativity, dedication, and knowledge can transform a simple tool into something much greater.
Our projects are developed as a hobby and out of passion for game creation. Many of our inspirations come from classic Nintendo, Rareware franchises, and other universes that marked generations, always seeking to create experiences with their own identity.
Furthermore, we believe that keeping the PowerPoint games community alive is a way to preserve a unique part of the history of digital creativity.
What are the advantages of developing games in PowerPoint?
One of the main advantages is accessibility. Many people already have PowerPoint installed on their computers, which facilitates both the creation and execution of projects.
Another advantage is creative freedom. Since the tool was not originally designed for games, developers need to explore alternative solutions, resulting in unique projects full of personality.
PowerPoint can also serve as a gateway to various areas of development, including programming logic, VBA, graphic design, animation, and narrative.
Additionally, projects tend to be lightweight and easy to share, allowing other creators to study their mechanics and develop their own ideas.
Above all, creating games in PowerPoint represents creativity, dedication, and innovation. The goal is not to prove that the tool is superior to professional engines, but to show that great ideas can emerge even in environments considered simple or limited.
